Hi, love your pictures. Btw, I'm also using Nikon D3100, what lens do you use?
For most of the photos on my tumblr I was using the 18-55mm kit lens. I got a Sigma 10-20mm a few months ago and it is awesome for landscape shots. And very recently, I got a Nikon 50mm 1.8G. I loooooooooooooove it. I rarely use my kit lens these days. :)
i just wanted to say that the first few photos you have on your tumblr took effect on me personally right away. there aren't very many pictures of the philippines that define our home the way your pictures do. thank you.
Wow I’m very flattered that you think so. Thank you for appreciating my work. :)
I wish I could see something like this first hand. But I hope everyone who lives around there are alright too.
It’s actually pretty cool even for us. On days like this you see a lot of people around just checking out the streets. Everyone’s fine. It’s really more of an annoyance for us. Most of the time it’s nothing to worry about.
Allow me to explain the last few photos. It’s been raining in Manila a lot the past few weeks. We’ve had 3 consecutive typhoons drenching us nonstop (hurricanes to you western folk). Rain plus our terrible infrastructure means flooding. Which means the street kids are gonna be out frolicking in it.
I was stranded at home with no way to get to work. What’s a guy to do? Impromptu photo walk of course. So here you go, the result of me walking around town with a camera and an umbrella. Which reminds me. I really should get a rain cover for my camera.
heeey! here i am, boostin' your ego!xD
(well,at least you're honest!)
love the blog, simply adore the photos, definetly a well worth follow and a very good addition to my dash
've a nice day!
(btw, this'll translate into a legitimate and faithful follow)
Well thanks for the ego boost! Seriously though, thank you for the kind words and I’m glad you enjoy my photographs. :)
I always feel weird taking candid photos of strangers. The very few photos of people I do shoot are usually people I know. Do you have any tips? Do you ask permission to take someone's photo before you shoot them? If not, has anyone ever gotten angry or annoyed at you for doing so?
Well first off I try not to get noticed. Mainly because I don’t want the person to pose. (Filipinos pose whenever there’s a camera pointed at them) That’s also the reason I never ask permission. Unless I actually want them to pose.
Luckily, my people are not very confrontational. No one really gets angry. They’ll just think you’re weird for taking a picture of them.
One thing I actually do is to look/walk away right after I take the shot. That’s my way of avoiding any resulting awkwardness.
I noticed that I’m enjoying shooting candid portraits lately. I don’t know if you could call it street photography because I shoot mostly inside malls. I never realized how interesting random people can be. It must be the new lens I just bought.
I’m still trying to find interesting landscapes to shoot. Feels like I’m going through a dry spell. Not many new followers either. So promote me if you feel like it. That didn’t sound as subtle as it seemed in my head.
Oh also, I’m going to see a Cirque Du Soleil show on Sunday. I’m really excited about that. Except for the fact that they don’t allow you to take photographs during the perfomance. Gaaahhh. Photography blue balls.
